ABU DHABI, 24th November, 2022 (WAM) — The UAE has hosted the meeting of the Global Coalition against Daesh Stabilisation Group, chaired by Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for International Development Affairs, and held under the joint leadership of the UAE, Germany, and the United States.
The meeting was convened at the headquarters of the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) in Abu Dhabi.
The meeting focused on various topics related to supporting stability in areas liberated from Daesh in Syria and Iraq; extending financial assistance for refugees and displaced persons in the Al-Hol and Al-Jada’a camps and reintegrating them into society; providing health, educational, and other basic services such as energy; creating job opportunities; and promoting food and water security.
In his opening speech, Al Shamsi underscored that the UAE is determined to continue its participation in international efforts to achieve stability in areas liberated from Daesh. He noted that in the coming period, the Global Coalition against Daesh aims to ensure the successful return of displaced persons and refugees to their communities in liberated areas.
He also stated that the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views, explore further cooperation, and expand the Coalition’s efforts to defeat Daesh in the long term.
