Slovenia

The Republic of Slovenia takes part in the Global Coalition against Daesh by assuming an officer-level duty in the coalition command established within the U.S. Central Command; by donating weapons and equipment, and by providing training of service members in the northern part of Iraq.

On 3rd of February 2016 the Government of the Republic of Slovenia adopted a decision to enter the Global Coalition. In the mid 2016 Slovenia donated weapons and equipment to Iraq and in September deployed the first contingent in Erbil. In the framework of counter-Daesh Slovenia has been contributing to the efforts of the Global Coalition to date with providing personnel to US Central Command in Tampa and members of Slovenian Armed Forces (SAF) in northern Iraq, Erbil in close cooperation with Germany towards building partner capacity. We will remain a contributing partner under Coalition flag to ensure stability and peace for the people of Iraq.

Date Entered Coalition:
On 3rd of February 2016 was adopted the governmental decision to enter the Global coalition.

Top Contributions to the Coalition:
Providing training support to Iraqi Security Forces in northern Iraq in infantry weapons handling and tactics, basic medical services, engineering and signals and also donating weapons and equipment to Iraq.

Slovenian Armed Forces (SAF) members constitute part of a Mobile Training Team working within the Kurdistan Training Coordination Center (KTCC) in Erbil.

SAF members

provide mentoring support in infantry weapons handling and tactics, basic medical services, engineering and signals.
