The Republic of Cyprus remains steadfastly committed to global and regional efforts to prevent and counter all forms of radicalisation and violent extremism.
Our related commitment is demonstrated in a variety of ways: Cyprus has repeatedly offered and provided its infrastructure to Coalition members for conducting counter-Daesh operations, a role which we are always ready to perform and expand if so required. We have also provided, in the recent past, significant quantities of military material to regional partners, such as the Kurdistan Regional Government in Iraq, for the purpose of bolstering their operational capabilities to counter Daesh. We stand ready to further examine possible avenues of co-operation with all such partners, in support of stabilisation efforts and specific development programs linked to tackling problems caused by Daesh actions.
We welcome therefore the strong emphasis that the Coalition continues to attach to the fight against Daesh in Iraq and Syria, recognising the crucial need to comprehensively defeat its destabilising campaign.
