Italy is a leading contributor to the Coalition, with a key role in training Iraqi forces, countering Daesh’ financial flows, supporting the Mosul Dam project, helping civilian population and protecting cultural heritage.

Italy is at the forefront of the global fight against terrorism, and a founding member of the Coalition against Daesh. In Iraq we are playing a crucial role in key areas such as curbing financial flows, training Iraqi security and police forces and the Iraqi Kurdish Peshmerga forces, preventing the recruitment of foreign fighters, and countering Daesh delusional narrative. We have taken the lead in the police training for the stabilization of the Iraqi liberated areas, which we consider to be crucial for a long-term solution.
