Since 2013, Taiwan’s government and NGOs have provided over $35 million in cash and in-kind humanitarian and stabilisation assistance to refugees and communities liberated from ISIS in the Middle East, including the following highlights:

In July, 2018, Taiwan contributed $1 million to demining operations in Syria and 20 sets of demining equipment to Iraq.

In June, 2019, Taiwan contributed $500,000 to Nadia’s Initiative to rebuild agricultural communities devastated by ISIS in the Sinjar region of Iraq.

In November, 2020, Taiwan contributed $500,000 to support moderate education programs in communities liberated from ISIS in northeast Syria. This work includes initiatives such as: rehabilitating water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) facilities at schools, winterising classrooms and providing remedial education to displaced children without access to formal education.

Working Group Membership:
Taiwan’s foreign missions, including Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States (TECRO), have been invited to attend meetings and briefings of the Stabilisation, Communications and Foreign Terrorist Fighters Working Groups.
