The Global Coalition – Working to Defeat Daesh

Since its formation in 2014, the Global Coalition has worked diligently to reduce the threat Daesh (ISIS) poses to international security and our homelands. Coalition members are united in common cause to defeat Daesh through a robust approach, including working by, with, and through local partners for military operations; supporting the stabilization of territory liberated from Daesh; and, enhancing international cooperation against Daesh’s global objectives through information sharing, law enforcement cooperation, severing Daesh financing, countering violent extremist recruitment, and neutralizing the Daesh narrative. The Coalition is also engaged in broad-based civilian efforts to provide humanitarian aid to communities suffering from displacement and conflict. The Coalition’s combined efforts have diminished Daesh’s military capability, territorial gains, leadership, financial resources, and on-line influence.

Meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh

Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh Brett McGurk will host senior leaders of the Coalition for a series of meetings in Washington D.C next week. On July 11, the Coalition’s Working Groups on Counter Finance, Foreign Terrorist Fighters, Stabilization Support, and Communications will meet individually to assess the campaign and discuss ways to intensify pressure on Daesh in each of these critical areas.
